We have the likes of Cinnaman, Arjun Vagale, and Kamasi Washington playing at all the hottest venues. Here’s where you need to be to have a wonderful, carefree, music-filled weekend.
Cinnaman: Yuri Boselie or Cinnaman is one of the leading Dutch DJs at the moment. It’s hard to pin down his sound as he experiments with electronic, RnB and Hip Hop thereby constantly producing music that’s fresh and groovy. Catch this eclectic DJ, curator and producer’s debut India tour which starts in Delhi at Auro Kitchen and Bar on Thursday, 29 August and in Mumbai at as of yet undisclosed location on Friday, 30 August.
Kamasi Washington: Kamasi Washington is an American jazz saxophonist, composer, producer, and bandleader. Considered this generation’s torchbearer to progressive and improvisational music, he will be accompanied by his 9-piece band that includes legendary musicians Ronald Bruner on Drums, Miles Mosley on Bass and Ryan Porter on Trombone among others, for a two-city tour. Catch this multi-genre, multi-talented savant in his debut India tour in Bombay at The Royal Opera House on 28 August and in Delhi at The Oddbird Theatre on 29 August.
Oliver Huntemann: Oliver Huntemann is a legendary techno and electro DJ and producer from Hamburg. His influences from 90’s break-beat and his remixes of some popular artists in the electronic music world make him a global favourite behind the console. He plays at Kitty Su, Delhi, on 30 August, Kitty Su, Mumbai on 31 August and the Pleasuredome, The Lalit Ashok, Bangalore on 1 September.
Arjun Vagale: Virtuoso and pioneer of techno in India, Arjun Vagale returns to familiar grounds in Bangalore at Kitty Ko this Friday, 30 August. Expect this master to steer the dance floor to his expert house and techno sounds that have been described as “intense, driven and atmospheric”.
Xiaomi India presents Space Disco by warpcore: This months edition of Space Disco features warpcore resident Nisheeth Rao, known behind the console as N*hilate. N*hilate will showcase his versatility and comfort with different genres at the fun-filled disco residency curated by warpcore at Mango Kitchen and Bar in New Delhi on 29 August. This event is happening in collaboration with Xiaomi India where the performance of both N*hilate and Bi3ector being live-streamed from the new Redmi K20 Pro smartphone.
Thermal and a Quarter: This award-winning, path-breaking band from Bangalore play in their home turf at Fandom at Gilly on Saturday, 31 August. Known for performances that move the crowd yet keep them transfixed, TAAQ’s sound is a behemoth of an experience. For all those enjoying the lovely rains of Bangalore, don’t miss this gig.
