While many people were curious what was Apple cooking for a strange off the script December press event in San Jose now things stand more clearly as it hosts the first iteration of the Apple Music Awards at the Steve Jobs theatre inside the Apple Spaceship campus. And in its very first iteration it has some heavyweights reigning supreme — ranging from teenage sensation Billie Eilish, to Lil Nas X and Lizzo. The awards function will be live streamed on December 4 at 630PM PST which means this one can be viewed by audience in India in the early hours of December 5.

The Winners

  1. Artist of the year: Billie Eilish for her debut album “ When we fall asleep, where do we go”.
  2. Album of the year: Billie Eilish’s “When we fall asleep, where do we go”.
  3. Breakthrough artist of the year: Lizzo for her rap and soul inspired, “Cuz I love you”.
  4. Song of the year: “Old town road” by Lil Nas X which was also featured in the trailer for Rambo Last Blood.

At the awards ceremony, there will be a live performance by Billie Eilish and also there will be special awards trophy which can be crafted from a special 12-inch wafer of silicon which is used to make Apple’s chips that power its gadgets like the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, AirPods, HomePods and even the Apple Watch.

Apart from the Apple Music Awards, Apple also announced the best apps of 2019 awards which featured big ticket apps like Spectre Camera, Moleskine, and even Apple Arcade original Sayonara wild hearts.
