The nominations for 92nd Oscars are in and Joker leads the ballot with 11 nods. This includes nominations for Todd Philips (Best Director) and Joaquin Phoenix (Best Actor). Following close behind The Irishman, 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood each got 10 nominations.
This year’s nominations have also ruffled a few feathers, particularly in the “Best Director” category where the entries skewed 100% male. A few more notable snubs were Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Jennifer Lopez in “Hustlers”, Golden Globe winner Awkwafina in “The Farewell” and Golden Globe winner Eddie Murphy in “Dolemite Is My Name”.
Greta Gerwig, a recent nominee for “Best Director” two years ago failed to get a nomination this year. Olivia Wilde, Lulu Wang and Marielle Heller also failed to get a nomination.
