DiCaprio once again teamed up with director Martin Scorsese, having previously worked together on films including The Departed, Shutter Island and The Wolf Of Wall Street. Take a look below!
Created by Apple Studios, directed and produced by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese. “Killers of the Flower Moon” is based on New Yorker journalist David Grann’s 2017 nonfiction book of the same name. It recounts multiple murders of Osage Native Americans in the 1920s. The investigation into the crime helped establish the FBI.
The Osage community settled on land in Oklahoma that was nearly worthless until oil was discovered under it. A rich cattle rancher hatched a plot to marry his nephew into the tribe — and then eliminate her relatives.
DiCaprio is taking on the role of Ernest Burkhart, who is the nephew of a powerful local rancher. Plemons plays Tom White, the lead FBI agent investigating the murders. Gladstone will play Mollie Kyle, the Osage woman he marries. De Niro will play William Hale, Burkhart’s uncle and the man who masterminded the plot. The rest of the cast includes Lily Gladstone (Some Women) and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, I just want to end it), but we’ll still have to wait a bit before we see all these talented people reunited on screen.
To make us wait, Apple recently unveiled the first image of the film which promises to be one of the most exciting of the year.
The film will be released on Apple TV+ exclusively, there’s no definite premiere date yet but it is expected to release sometime later this year. It will join other films already available, like Justin Timberlake’s drama Palmer, Tom Hanks’ World War II naval epic Greyhound, and Bill Murray and Rashida Jones’ comedy On the Rocks.
